Top 500 Tracks of 2000

Yay more lists!  I saw this title and was like, “this is a ridiculous idea, I mean we’re only halfway through the decade…oh.”  Seriously, how did we get to 2009 so darn fast?  I am excited for 2010 because it means the next census will be done and then there were be three censuses (censusi?) that are online (1990 and 2000 being the other ones) which makes for much better trending than just two.  OK, I’m a nerd, I love demographics.

But back to the topic at hand.  Pitchfork created a list of the Top 500 tracks of the 2000s and I was browsing through 100-51 yesterday and was pretty much in awe of how awesome every track was so then today I went to look at what was near the bottom of the list and I encountered:

-#495: Weezer, Island in the Sun

-#479: Brightblack Morning Light, Everybody Daylight

-#477: The Dodos, Fools

-#467: RJD2, Let the Good Times Roll, Pt. 2

-#463: The Black Kids, I’m Not Going to Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance With You

Like come on!  All of these songs are so awesome!  Which made me realize that these 500 songs must all be incredibly sick and worth listening to if those are at the bottom of the list.  So check it out.

500-201

200-101

100-51

50-21

20-1

Interstingly, Outkasts “B.O.B.” is the #1 track and in an attempt to be ironically open minded and hipster (I can only assume) Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love” is #4.  Also I’m pretty psyched that Animal Collective’s “My Girls” is #9 because that song rules.
