2010 Census
As I have mentioned on this blog before (see here), I am pretty excited about the 2010 Census. I’m writing this post as a plea to fill out whatever forms are mailed to you. Most of Americans get the short form that I just filled out; it takes about 10 seconds to do. This needs to be mailed in for April 1st so if you have it lying around somewhere, make sure to not let it sit much longer.
I know it may seem silly to do these things but speaking as someone who has used Census data countless times in various research and mapping projects, I cannot overstate the importance of this data. Not only is it valuable in research and academic pursuits, but the primary use of the Census is to understand where to allocate tax money and understand the changing demographics of a place. So yes, the Census has a direct effect on YOU.
